Ezequiel Cruz, the departmental sub-commissioner of COPECO (the Honduran Permanent Contingency Commission), reported the overflowing of the Cruta and Coco Segovia rivers, whose swollen waters have flooded numerous communities in Villeda Morales, Wampusirpe, Ahuas, and Brus Laguna, causing significant losses to local agriculture and livestock. Given the current shortage of supplies at the regional contingency warehouse and the forecast of a new tropical wave with heavy rainfall expected on Thursday, authorities have activated the Municipal Emergency Committees (CODEM) and Local Emergency Committees (CODEL) to carry out mitigation efforts.
