Interview with Selena’s friend fellow Tejano singer Shelly Lares
Known as the Queen of Tejano, the late Selena Quintanilla-Perez received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2021 Grammys. Now we’re releasing an exclusive interview from our vault with Selena's friend and fellow Tejano singer Shelly Lares. The interview took place right before the pandemic and hasn't been seen by the public until now. “Even if you were in the Astrodome and you were on the very top, she would still make you feel like you were important,” Lares says in the interview. “That was just something about her personality, her character. So I think she very well deserves that they are doing things to continue her legacy."
