Central Hidroelectrica Qutitaracsa - Ancash - Peru Infrastructure The plant is located approximately 500 kilometers northeast of Lima, in the district of Yuracmarca, province of Huaylas, department of Ancash, at 1465 meters above sea level, very close to the town of Huallanca, where the Central de Canyon of the Duck. This hydroelectric power plant will have an installed capacity of 112 mW using two Pelton turbines inside the engine room in the cave. The Quitaracsa I hydroelectric plant will use the Quitaracsa River flow to expand Peru's generation capacity and help meet projected electricity demand in the country. Among the works are the construction of an electrical substation and a transmission line to transport energy from the source to distribution points. According to new geological findings, the project was relocated to 1km and was redesigned to be smaller to better exploit the potential of the river.
