In today's video, we'll demonstrate how to replace the headlights on a VW Polo. The replacement isn't complicated, but it can be a bit fiddly. Since the front bumper needs to be removed, it's recommended to work with two people. To access the headlights on the VW Polo, the grille and front bumper must be removed. Unscrew the two mounting screws for the grille and release the clips. With a gentle tug, you can now pull the grille off. 2. Remove the upper screws of the front bumper. To access the lower mounting screws of the front bumper, the trim panel must first be removed. 3. Carefully pry out the front bumper's mounting clips with side cutters and remove the retaining clips on the headlights. The last two screws are hidden behind the bumper's front panels. Unclip them and remove the screws. Before removing the bumper, the outside temperature sensor must be gently pressed out of its holder. When removing the apron, be careful that no one trips over it. 4. Next, unscrew the headlights. Disconnect the plug by pulling the small tab slightly backward. 5. Since the new headlights are supplied without bulbs, the old bulbs must be replaced or new ones installed. Remove the protective caps and disconnect the plug from the low beam. The bulb itself is secured with a retaining ring, which you must release. The turn signal sits on an extension that can be unscrewed counterclockwise. The high beam bulb is also secured. Disconnect the plug, release the retaining ring, and pull out the bulb. You can pull out the parking light bulb socket with a gentle pull by pressing on the levers on the side. 6. When handling the bulbs, be careful not to touch the lens with your fingers if possible. This work requires some dexterity. Make sure that the turn signal is properly seated in the socket and that the socket is also screwed in correctly. After inserting the low beam headlight, lock the bulb in place and reconnect the plug. This step is completed by replacing the dust cover. 7. Now reinstall the headlight. Listen for the plug to click into place and then screw the headlight back in. Do not overtighten, as this could break the plastic. 8. Reinstall the front bumper in the reverse order of removal. First, position it and slide it back. Clip the brackets onto the headlights, attach the temperature sensor, and screw the front bumper in place. Then clip the trim panel back into place. 9. Now reinstall the radiator grille, clip it into place, and screw it in place. 10. Install the underbody panel and screw the front bumper back into place. 11. Perform a headlight test: Check that all lights on both sides are working and then adjust the headlights accordingly.
