[SURF BOOK] Chapter 14 "Typhoon No. 2 Kyushu" Ride for NAOHISA memorial tour" May 23, 2023... Japan's proud professional surfer, Naohisa Ogawa, passed away after suffering from colon cancer. On May 24, 2023, as Typhoon No. 2 was approaching the southwest of Japan, Maki suddenly heard the news of the death of Naohisa Ogawa, a legendary surfer of the same age who had competed with him since their youth, such as competing together as the "Japanese national team" in the 1996 ISA World Championship. Maki: "We're going to ride the left waves of No. 2 and talk about Naohisa. Those who are still alive will share it. I think that's the surfer's way of mourning." And so the Kyushu-Miyazaki memorial trip began. In order to catch the swells of Typhoon No. 2, Maki heads to Kyushu, one of Japan's leading surfing areas, chasing left waves in difficult conditions, and arrives at a place where the swell, terrain, and wind are strong. This work is to coincide with the third anniversary of the death of professional surfer Naohisa Ogawa, and depicts a Kyushu trip in which he mourned, pursued left waves, remembered his friend of 30 years, visited his friend at that time, and shared it with many people.
