I normally go through a chapter from the material my Japanese language school assigns us to and from there, it becomes much easier to understand the reading that's included in the chapter. I really enjoy writing the characters down but memorizing it and storing that information long term is something I've always struggled with. Its essential to learn even the most basic of Kanji characters to properly live in Japan. To pass the JLPT exams there are books that contain the most commonly used Kanji for each level so its easier to feel some sort of progression in your Japanese studies. :) If you have any tips on how to learn Japanese especially in memorizing Kanji please let me know!
