Morning Devotional for Children | Monday, July 27, 2026 =================== A Pure Heart Bible Reading: Job 31:1-4; 13-16; 40 Key Verse: “Does God not see my ways and count all my steps?” (Job 31:4, NIV). The Message: Imagine your parents leave the house and give you a list of chores. The enemy whispers in your ear, “Don’t do anything, play video games and do your homework five minutes before they get back; they’ll never notice.” Being honest and doing the right thing when no one is watching is the true test of a pure heart. In Job 31, Job explains that he had a very serious covenant with his own eyes never to look at evil things or covet what was not his [Job 31:1]. Job knew perfectly the truth of the key verse: that God sees all our ways and counts each of our steps [Job 31:4]. That is why Job never cheated anyone in his business dealings, never ignored the rights of his servants, and always shared his food with orphans and the needy [Job 31:13-17]. Job wasn't good for show; he was secretly upright. At your age, the internet, social media, and cell phones give you access to many things you can secretly watch in your room when your parents or teachers aren't watching. The enemy will try to convince you that if no one is watching you at school or at home, it's okay to watch inappropriate videos, cheat, or speak ill of others. Don't be deceived! Jesus watches you with immense love every second and wants you to keep your mind free of filth. True integrity is choosing what is right even when the whole world is in darkness. Advice for you: Make a covenant with your eyes, your hands, and your electronic devices today. Remember that God counts your steps not to punish you, but to protect you. A secretly clean heart will give you the greatest confidence to speak with God each morning. Activity of the day: Today you will practice the "Digital Covenant." Before opening any social network, game, or video online, repeat today's verse in your mind: "Does God not see my ways?" If what you are about to see does not edify your mind or please Jesus, have the courage to close the tab, turn off the screen, and change your activity. Prayer: "Dear God, thank you that you know each of my thoughts and lovingly count all my steps. I ask for forgiveness for the times I have secretly done wrong or looked at things that displease you online. Today I make a covenant with my eyes and my mind to keep my heart clean at school and at home." Give me the willpower of Job to be upright in secret and always do what is right. Guide my paths today.
