St Thomas: Living The Reality

St. Thomas was a railway city. Then a factory city. Now it's becoming something else. In this episode, I walk the downtown core and dig into why a main street with real architectural bones still feels quieter than it should: rail decline in the '50s and '60s, the 1967 Ford plant, the station's slow death through to its 1996 closure, and the 2008 crisis that took Ford down with it by 2011. But things are shifting. The old Ford plant is now an Amazon fulfillment center. The Volkswagen battery plant, one of the largest manufacturing investments in Canadian history, is coming. The historic station was repurposed into a heritage and event space in 2013. This is a value suburb in the making, anchored by one of the biggest industrial bets in the country.... #StThomasOntario #OntarioRealEstate #SouthwesternOntario #Urbanism #LivingTheReality
