Beginners' Theater Workshop Begins, Led by Francisco Javier Zárate Urbina As part of the State Theater Showcase activities As a prelude to the 2016 Sinaloa State Theater Showcase, the Beginners' Acting Workshop began and will run until Saturday, September 10, at the UAS House of Culture. Led by Francisco Javier Zárate Urbina, the workshop is organized by the Sinaloa Institute of Culture (ISIC) in coordination with the General Directorate of Cultural Outreach of the Ministry of Culture. Carlos Morales, Director of Artistic Programming for ISIC and coordinator of the 2016 Sinaloa State Theater Showcase, welcomed the participants, stating that the workshop aims to provide opportunities for artists and creators in the field of theater. Furthermore, he emphasized that the courses, workshops, and conferences taking place during the Festival are intended to strengthen the cultural work of the Sinaloa Institute of Culture (ISIC), in addition to the performances presented from Tuesday, September 13th to Saturday, September 17th. On behalf of María Luisa Miranda Monrreal, General Director of ISIC, he thanked both the participants and the Autonomous University of Sinaloa for this joint effort to reclaim this space for expression for artists, playwrights, directors, and audiences in the field of theater. The topics covered during these four days are: Text Analysis and Structuring; Character Creation Based on the Actor's Dramaturgy; Improvisation and Physical Actions; Development of Individual Dramatic Materials for the Stage; and Exploration and Selection of Creative Sources. Registration is available by calling 712-64-25. Francisco Javier Sánchez Urbina was born in León, Guanajuato (1972). He began his acting career in late 1989 with the children's and youth theater group Nada, formed at the IMSS Theater in León. From 1993 onward, he participated with various independent theater groups, and in 1995 he founded the Luna Negra Theater Workshop, with which he worked for 14 years. In 2004, he founded El Golem Theater Laboratory, which he continues to direct. As an acting teacher, he has collaborated with groups and companies at institutions such as ITESM León, La Salle High School, the Faculty of Medicine, the León House of Culture, and many others. In 2008, he taught acting in the Bachelor of Arts program at Casa del Teatro, Cedram (Pátzcuaro). She has participated in eight editions of the National School Theater Program in the city of León, Guanajuato, with plays such as: Hey, Family (1999), The Dragon's Head (2002), Of Beards and Long Skirts (2004), Harlequin, Servant of Two Masters (2007), Valentina and the Devil's Shadow (2011), Stories to Reach the Moon (2013), and others. She has participated in tours, festivals, and workshops throughout Mexico, as well as in Argentina, Denmark, the United States, and Venezuela. She has performed at the International Cervantino Festival with various shows. I have participated in workshops, courses, diplomas and seminars on acting, directing, set design and production with teachers such as Luis de Tavira, Abraham Oceranski, Eugenio Barba, Rubén Pires, Adriana Rovira, Peter Schumann, Evgueni Lazariev, Rodolfo Obregón, Joao das Neves, Andrés Pérez Araya, Ricardo Ramírez Carnero, and Arturo Nava.
