We have a two-year government contract with the NRCS to build Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs), and this year, a new workflow and material system allowed us to build them five times faster than before. But the big question we’re answering today is: are these quick-build desert beaver dams actually worth it? In this episode, we put our five new BDAs to the ultimate test when a hard June rain hits the ranch, showing us exactly what these structures can do and where they might fail. We also welcome the NRCS to inspect and grade our work, which determines if we get paid. We look back at an older dam that successfully trapped sediment and grew a thick patch of green grass in a "moonscape" wash, but that water ultimately found a way around. If you want to see how we are using innovative tools to build a desert forest and turning dry channels into greener pockets, you won’t want to miss this update! 👉 If you want to help decide our next actions, head over to Team Dustups to cast your vote!
