Footprints Forward July Celebrations and Stories That Bring Us Together

July arrives like a burst of sunlight and today we explore the celebrations, traditions and stories that shape communities around the world. From Canada Day to Tanabata to Mandela Day, each moment carries a lesson and each tradition reminds us how deeply connected we truly are. Join Zak as he shares cultural celebrations, community questions and a powerful interview about courage, caregiving and hope. July comes in glowing with heritage, hope and courage. In this episode of Footprints Forward, Zak guides us through the celebrations that cultures around the world honor throughout the month. Each tradition carries a story, each story carries a lesson and each lesson gives us a chance to reflect on what we celebrate, what we remember and what we hope for. We begin with a special invitation to Jim’s Journey with our friends at Dignified Dementia. A celebration filled with food, drinks, games, a silent auction and the debut of Jim’s signature beer crafted at Flight Co Tower. Discounted tickets are available until July 9. From there we explore July’s global celebrations including Canada Day, Gion Matsuri, San Fermin, Tanabata, Independence Day, Bastille Day, Obon, International Reggae Day, White Nights Festival, Nuna Vute Day, Orangeman’s Day, Kapula Night, Feast of the Seven Brothers, Mandela Day, World Population Day and World Youth Skills Day. Each celebration comes with a question for the audience, inviting reflection, kindness and connection. Examples include: “What does community mean to you” “What tradition deserves to be carried forward” “What gives you courage when life gets difficult” “What wish would you tie to a branch today” “What freedom do you cherish most” “What modern act of courage inspires you today” We then move into a heartfelt interview with Air Force veteran Jeanette Dethridge who shares her journey supporting her husband Craig through stage four prostate cancer. She speaks openly about caregiving, hope, mental health, the importance of early screenings and her 40 year mission helping women feel confident through Mary Kay. Her message is powerful. Her courage is inspiring. Her reminder is simple. “It is okay not to be okay.” The episode closes with gratitude for firefighters battling the Colorado and Utah fires, reminders about upcoming community events, and an invitation for viewers to share their own July celebrations so we can honor them together. Because at Community Pay It Forward no one needs to go it alone when we all come together.
