Schindler 330A Hydraulic Elevator at The Lerner in Elkhart, IN

The historic Lerner Theatre opened in 1924 and went under many changes over the years. Warner Bros. purchased the theatre seven years later, in 1931 and the theatre was renamed The Warner. However, only a couple years later, the theatre went bankrupt and a contest was held to rename the theatre. The winning name was The ELCO, which stood for Elkhart County. The theatre eventually fell into the hands of The City of Elkhart and it remained The ELCO, until 2008 when The City of Elkhart approved an $18 million dollar renovation to the historic theatre. The name was changed back to its original name of The Lerner. Construction started in 2009, which was also the year this elevator was installed. This is a newer Schindler 330A with HT VR Fixtures and for a newer 330A, this is actually pretty nice. It runs well and has a cab that matches the look of the theatre. The only issue with this elevator is it can be pretty noisy when going up, which is a problem on many newer 330As.
