Compairing 5 sets of Jazz cymbals
Here you can see and hear me plaing 5 different sets of Jazz cymbals. Each one consists of 2 Ride cymbals and a pair of hihats and has been put together with a certain "theme" in mind. First therealways is a recording of the cymbals seperately, and then I´m playing them along to a part of the song "The Al Trane", written by John Riley and taken from his book "the art of Bop drumming". The recording has been done with two overheads and one bassdrum microphone and I´ve not used any effects or other sound treatement to capture the sounds of the cymbals as naturally as possible. Also all the levels (including the play alongs´) are exaxtly the same for each set of cymbals. Therefore you can not only compair their sounds, but also their volume. I´ve used the same sticks all the time and tried to play with the same intensity. Hope you like it...
