King Alfred's Way - Day 1 - Winchester to All Cannings
The first day of cycling King Alfred’s Way, a Cycling UK created, mostly off-road, route in a 220 mile loop from Winchester. I started riding around 09:00 from Winchester after arriving that morning by train from London. The route along old Roman roads, byways and paths didn’t involve much climbing on the first day. The weather was good and I got a good pace going. I had some difficulty discerning where the route was when there were a number of options. I had to take a busy road when access to a path across a military firing range was closed. I wasn’t in any hurry and I got to my campsite, after a quick trip to the local village shop, around 7:00 PM. 65 miles ridden, 3,842 ft climbed #bikepacking #bikepackinguk #cyclinguk #kingalfredsway #adventurecycling
