We arrived in San Pedro de Atacama after facing one of the biggest challenges of the trip: altitude sickness in the Andes Mountains. During the crossing of the high mountains, we started to feel very ill from the effects of the altitude, mainly intense headaches and general malaise. We needed to make a strategic stop to rest and recover before continuing the motorcycle expedition. We stayed in San Pedro, taking the opportunity to walk around the city a bit and slow down, since we had already explored several tourist attractions in the region on another trip. Before continuing our journey, we took care to use analgesics to help reduce the symptoms of altitude sickness and were able to start our return safely.
