xTool S1 Jig in Action Building a Blanket Ladder with Perfect Mortises
This project was a blast. I designed a laser‑cut jig on the xTool S1 with two angled mortise cutouts—10 inches on center and pitched at 12 degrees—to match the lean of a blanket ladder. In this video, I put that jig to work and show how it makes the joinery fast, accurate, and repeatable. Once the mortises are marked, I walk through the full ladder build, from layout to assembly. If you’re into hybrid woodworking—mixing laser precision with traditional tools—you’ll enjoy this one. I also made a separate video showing exactly how I created the jig in xTool Studio, so be sure to check that out if you want to build your own.
