About an hour and a half drive from Vientiane. I visited the home of a girl named Elisa through an introduction from my younger sister. On the way there, I thought it was just an ordinary rural village. However, when I saw the house, I was speechless for a while. It was because it was so different from what we typically imagine a home to be. There were no rooms, no beds; they were simply living on a raised platform pitched with a mosquito net. What would they do if it rained? What if it got hot? Would it be okay at night? Many thoughts flashed through my mind. Of course, the family welcomed me with bright smiles, but a part of my heart felt heavy. I realized once again that in this world, things we take for granted may not be taken for granted by others. This visit was not just a simple trip, but a time that made me reflect on many things.
