Expat Life In Vietnam Is NOT What You Think 🤯
Living in Vietnam as an expat is full of surprises — some good, some chaotic, and some that make you laugh at how unpredictable life can get. I’ve been here for over five and a half months now, and just when I think I’ve figured things out, a random Sunday comes along to remind me: Vietnam always has a new twist waiting. This video is a glimpse into what everyday life really looks like here in Da Nang. It’s not the polished picture you see on Instagram — it’s real, raw, sometimes messy, but always full of energy. Whether it’s the random things you order online that change your apartment setup (yes, Shopee can literally deliver almost anything to your door), or heading out into the city only to be caught in a sudden downpour, being an expat here is never boring. One of the coolest things about Da Nang is how much variety you have. You can cycle across town, find golf shops, stumble on climbing gyms, play pool at late-night bars like Dana Sniper, or simply ride out to the coast. The city has this mix of modern convenience and wild unpredictability that makes every day feel different. For me, even buying a bike from the Giant shop in Da Nang opened up a whole new side of the city. Cycling around isn’t always scenic (sometimes it’s just a four-lane road with no view), but it gives you this front-row seat to daily life in Vietnam that you can’t get any other way. Expats often talk about how affordable Vietnam is, and it’s true but that shouldn't be your focus as we don't want to brew a scarcity mindset — the real value here is in the lifestyle. Things that would feel like luxuries elsewhere are part of everyday life here. You can upgrade your apartment with something unexpected you ordered online, grab street food on the way to a climbing session, or walk into a pool hall like Dana Sniper without any booking and feel instantly at home. It’s the mix of comfort and chaos that makes Da Nang such an exciting place to live. In this vlog, I wanted to capture the side of expat life that doesn’t always make the headlines. It’s not just beaches, scooters, and tourist attractions. It’s the random rainstorms that soak you on the way home, the late-night pool games, the travellers you meet along the way, the small purchases that somehow change your daily routine, and the constant surprises around every corner. That’s what makes living here so different from back home — it’s not predictable, and that’s exactly why it’s worth experiencing. Hoi An is only a short ride away, the coastline stretches for miles, and the city has a growing expat community. But even if you’ve been here for months, a single Sunday can feel like a whirlwind of unexpected moments. For anyone thinking about moving abroad, or just curious about what life is really like beyond the tourist brochures, this video will give you an honest look into what being an expat in Vietnam is all about. ✨ If you are dreaming about moving abroad, let me know what sort of questions take up space in your head. What holds you back? I would love to address these sorts of questions in the coming videos.
