История которую скрывает роскошный дом у треугольника в центре Баку

Today, I invite you to stroll through one of the most fascinating parts of old Baku—from Lermontov Street to Akhundov Park. This part of the city holds many secrets: Western University was once located here, and today it houses the University under the President of Azerbaijan. And in the shade of ancient trees, you can feel the breath of history in the Presidential Park. Along the way, we'll remember the old Bon Appétit pastry shop, pass through the arch at 5 İstiqlaliyyət döngəsi Street, and find ourselves at an unusual architectural triangle, home to one of the most luxurious buildings in pre-revolutionary Baku. The owner of this house was either Dmitry Dmitrievich Mitrofanov or Isaak Moiseevich Neporent, although the ownership documents listed Dmitry Dmitrievich Mitrofanov. Why? At the beginning of the 20th century, it was difficult for Jews in the Russian Empire to own property outside the Pale of Settlement, and many were forced to register their homes in the names of acquaintances. This fact reveals a whole layer of history from that time—about the people who built Baku but were not always able to openly own it. We'll look at how this neighborhood changed, why its shape resembles a triangle, and what lies beneath the façade of the old mansion, past which hundreds of people pass daily, unaware of its past. #Baku #BakuHistory #Azerbaijan #AkhundovPark #LermontovStreet #BakuArchitecture #OldBaku #MitrofanovHouse #AzerbaijanHistory #BakuWalk
