The Chief of Defence Forces, General Jacob John Mkunda, on 10 July 2026, led Officers and Soldiers to bid farewell to a total of 17 Generals, five (5) Major Generals and 12 Brigadier Generals who retired from military service by June 2026, where the event took place at the National Defence Headquarters MMUT Kikombo grounds in Dodoma region. Immediately after the event, the Chief of Defence Forces advised the retired Generals that retirement is an honor, so he urged them to become citizens and continue with their normal lives, while urging them not to get involved in politics as the Army and the Government in general still believe that they have a great contribution to make to the broader interests of the country.
