Stop work Intervention

Safety is so important at GYSBI that EVERYONE has the “Stop Work Authority” (SWA), including visitors of our facility. Through the Behavioral Based Safety Training delivered to all employees, not only has the company empowered each of its employees to intervene on unsafe acts and conditions, but they have also been equipped with the GYSBI “Intervention Tool” that promotes a sensitive, professional, and systematic approach their intervention. This tool encourages two-way communication during interventions through a series of open-ended questions; it aims at the behavior observed and not the individual involved. This video is a good example of the use of the tool and the SWA Life-Saving Rule in action, whereby an inexperienced worker intervenes on an experienced worker, to stop an unsafe act.
