Sumitomo Mitsui Card announced on the 9th that it will expand its credit card payment service for trains. Starting March 25th, the company announced that it will increase the number of stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area where credit card payment is accepted to approximately 820 stations. This service will be available on 62 lines operated by 18 operators, including Tokyo Metro and Seibu Railway. Additionally, the company plans to support payment for commuter passes with touchscreen payment from spring 2027 onward. It will also begin offering bus fare discounts for seniors in some areas in conjunction with My Number cards.
