Beginners' Sabre Finals w/ Matt Galas & Konrad Kramarz (Startschlag Krieger Cup 2024)

This video features the sabre finals of the Startschlag Krieger Cup 2024—a big Polish HEMA tournament that gives beginners a chance to compete in historical sabre and longsword, following the rules of the Polish HEMA Federation. This was the second edition of Startschlag, but this year, the HEMA club Mordschlag teamed up with Krieger Historical Weapons to take the event to the next level. Together, they boosted its scale, improved its quality, and brought in some amazing prizes for the fencers. We were extremely lucky to have Matt Galas with us—an absolute legend in HEMA commentary (you might know him from the Swordfish tournament) and a dedicated fencing practitioner with over 40 years of experience. Joining him was Konrad Kramarz—one of the world’s top historical sabre fencers, currently ranked 3rd globally on HEMA Ratings. Konrad is not only a member of Mordschlag but also a co-founder of Krieger Historical Weapons.
