Written by frontman Robert Smith and Lol Tolhurst, it served as the lead and only single from the band's fifth studio album, The Top. Chart Performance: The single reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and spent seven weeks on the chart. Musical Style: It marked a departure from the band's earlier gloomy gothic rock, featuring a frantic, upbeat rhythm, driving piano melodies, and an acoustic, woodwind-like charm. B-Sides: The original 7-inch release included the track "Happy The Man", while the 12-inch version added "Throw Your Foot". The distinctive music video was directed by long-time collaborator Tim Pope. It was filmed inside the Great Conservatory at Syon Park in London.
