Gladiator Film Locations Revealed, Germania Battlefield - Bourne Wood, Farnham, Surrey

This film takes you on a walking tour around the locations used in the epic film Gladiator, during the Germania battle when the Roman Legions fought against the barbarians at the start of the film. My film shows you how to find the locations and matches shots to locations. My film also tells you about the making of the film at Bourne Wood: the actors, the production, the special effects, the design, extras, stunt-men, catapults, weapons, CGI, story-boards and more. Gladiator Gladiator is the best film set during the time of the Roman Empire. Gladiator was the second highest grossing film, at the worldwide Box-office, In the year 2000 and it went on to win 5 Oscars, including best picture. The film's opening battle sequence was set in Germania, but was actually filmed in Bourne Wood, in Surrey, England, over the course of 20 days. Russell Crowe plays General Maximus Decimus Meridius, who comes from Spain, who commands the Roman Felix Legion. Bourne Wood Bourne Wood is a beautiful tranquil place to visit, mainly consisting of coniferous woodland. Located near Farnham and features a large heathland clearing, It has many woodland walks and has a hard path suitable for wheelchairs and push-chairs. Bourne Wood offers impressive views over the surrounding pine forests. The sand soil provides a good walking surface, and the many public footpaths give great access to the woodland, where you can take in the beautiful natural scenery. The site has a small pay and display car park. There are no other facilities. Bourne Wood is open year round 24 hours a day. Please note BBQs or disposal of cigarettes are not allowed anywhere on the heathland or woods due to the fire risk. Bourne Wood is also strategically important to the UK film industry as a filming location. Since 1999 numerous films, commercials, television programmes and music videos have been filmed here!Bourne Wood has appeared in several films, including War horse, Thor, Wonder Woman, Harry Potter, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It has also been used in the tv shows House of the Dragon and the Witcher. Every effort has been made to find the locations.
