The flood of ultra-light Chinese wheels... I've been wondering if this is a blessing or a curse for enthusiasts. Of course, this is based on the idea that "light isn't everything," which has been around for about two or three years. For a long time, brands that are considered "traditional"—including the renowned DT Swiss—have been very slow to adopt lightweight designs. Especially with the advent of disc brakes, some brands have completely abandoned their approach to lightweight design. These brands' wheels are constantly used in environments where their maximum performance and durability are pushed to the limit (such as intense power training and race competitions by World Tour athletes, unbelievable road vibration, and road shock at high speeds). So, if you try to go for extreme weight reduction, you might actually lose a lot. Therefore, even if you choose a moderately light wheel, you'll always find a wheel that offers excellent balance. The problem lies in the fact that wheelsets focus solely on light weight, among the many components that make up a wheelset. Enthusiasts rarely push a wheel to its limits, so problems are rare under normal circumstances. However, without seeing and riding it in person, the only things we can judge based solely on numbers are weight and rim width. This can make choosing a wheelset a headache, and it's already a headache. The idea that lighter is better is now as likely to be false as my weight reaching 90kg.
