La RIVOLUZIONE biblica | Davide Sabatino con Silvano Petrosino

#silvanopetrosino #religion #christianity The Biblical Revolution - Davide Sabatino in conversation with Silvano Petrosino "Go and learn the meaning of 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'" (Mt 9:13) When will we learn to live personal relationships, those between nations, between religions, between relatives, according to this ancient teaching that has come down to us from the Prophets, through the Gospels, and now? When will we, as a global humanity, succeed in putting an end to the chain of deaths fostered precisely by a sacrificial anthropological vision completely incapable of loving one's enemy and forgiving him as a Father does his son? Unfortunately, judging by the way we are approaching the Third World War, we still seem decidedly far from experiencing conflicts based on mercy and not human sacrifice. We are witnessing the repetition of the perverse "if you want peace, prepare for war" pattern, which serves as an alibi—for both Netanyahu and Western governments—for the massacres in Gaza, Ukraine, and the latest ignominious massacre in Rafah. According to these warmongers, the Palestinian people's sacrifice is inevitable, serving to liberate Palestine from Hamas terrorists (they say). But to think this way is to think with hatred, not mercy. It means unleashing a blind and endless war of revenge, rather than working toward a peaceful resolution. With Professor Silvano Petrosino, philosopher and scholar of the thought of Lévinas, Heidegger, Derrida, and Lacan, we attempted to question the "illogical madness" (the title of one of his latest books, published by Vita e Pensiero, 2022) that constitutes the fundamental ontological structure of the human being. In the human being, there exists an ambiguous relationship between what is finite (the body) and what is infinite (the spirit). This ambiguity generates "logical madness," which, in turn, generates a desire for power and domination: wars. Is there a way to overcome this tragedy? This violent contradiction? Silvano Petrosino is convinced so. And to support his answer, he spoke to us about the Biblical Revolution. Enjoy! DAVIDE SABATINO April 23, 2024
