Our original plan for day seventeen was to cycle along the 80-kilometer-long Shimanami Kaido bike path, which spans the Seto Inland Sea. However, the weather turned against us; a persistent spring rain that started yesterday afternoon forced us to make a decisive decision: cancel our bike rentals and change our route to a mysterious destination deep within Fukuyama City. This rain, seemingly an obstacle, actually led us to the most anticipated and breathtaking stop of our trip: the Shinshoji Zen Museum and Gardens.
