when the main character is so good they don't even need an arc
I recently watched Princess Mononoke for the first time ever. Having seen zero, yes zero studio ghibli films, I figured to start with what many people consider to be their best work. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed, but I would say I was surprised. Not by the stunning visuals, not by the profound thematic message, and not by the imaginative worldbuilding. Those all came without saying. What surprised me was Princess Mononoke herself, and more specifically, her role in the movie named after her. By the time we really met Princess Mononoke, we had already familiarized ourselves with two other prominent characters in Prince Ashitaka and Lady Eboshi. This trio of characters are each incremental to the story and could be considered heroes in their own right, creating a complex and thought provoking dynamic between them. So, one question was left in my mind: who is the protagonist? #videoessay #writingadvice #princessmononoke #studioghibli Timestamps: Intro 0:00 Protagonist? 0:48 Lady Eboshi 1:54 Princess Mononoke 3:11 Prince Ashitaka 4:28 New Definition 5:48 Protagonist. 9:45 Music track: Tranquility by Project Ex Forest Bathing by Piki We Are by Moavii In Flight by Alegend There be Dragons by Pufino Warrior by Alegend Source: https://freetouse.com/music Free Background Music for Videos
