FIA Karting European Championship Junior, OK & Academy - Round 3 Viterbo / Italy (Sunday)

DISCOVERING THE VITERBO CIRCUIT After Spain and Portugal, the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship for the OK and OK-Junior categories is heading for Italy and the town of Viterbo. This will be a major first at this level for the Leopard circuit, located north of Rome. Current championship leaders Christian Costoya (Spain) in OK and Noah Baglin (Great Britain) in OK-Junior will face stiff competition. The event programme, which runs from 5 to 8 June, will be rounded off by the second of three competitions in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy - Senior, bringing together a total of 233 competitors. The Léopard circuit has been welcoming karting drivers, both leisure and competition, for almost 18 years. After massive investment and extensive work, the Italian complex now has an international dimension that has enabled it to apply to host an FIA Karting event. The 1,294-metre track is full of challenges, with a balanced mix of fast bends and tighter corners that encourage overtaking. The site now boasts modern infrastructure capable of hosting competitors as efficiently as possible, with a large tarmac paddock, a new building housing a bar-restaurant, a motor sport shop, a workshop and numerous rooms for briefings, officials, the media and meetings. OK: Who's next? Australian James Anagnostiadis and Spaniard Christian Costoya won at Campillos in southern Spain and Portimão in the Algarve respectively. Will a third driver join the list of winners at Viterbo? Ranked third in the 2024 Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship, Belgian Thibaut Ramaekers will try to use his experience to counter these two young drivers from the OK-Junior category. With 100 drivers announced for the OK class at Viterbo, the racing should be as good as it gets.
