F1 1957: Age Is Just A Number

Formula 1, as with all motorsport, is defined by choices. Choices of car design, choices of strategy, but also choices of drivers and teams. Teams take risks by changing a familiar driver line-up. These can be a roaring success, or a total failure. But teams aren’t the only ones who makes choices when it comes to driving. The luminary greats of the sport very often have no shortage of suitors if and when they decide to move on, such that they essentially have the pick of the paddock and any team would happily accommodate them. Juan Manuel Fangio, despite being 45 years old, was one such man. Now a 4-time world champion, he was to leave the Ferrari team with whom he had just won a third-straight title. When a driver of such renown makes a move like this, it carries even more risk. You can either solidify or perhaps even grow your legacy with a move away, or you can watch your career completely implode, never to recover. 0:00 - 2:43 Intro 2:43 - 4:22 Argentina 4:22 - 6:53 Il Bello 6:53 - 8:45 Monaco 8:45 - 9:52 France 9:52 - 11:32 Great Britain 11:32 - 14:09 Germany 14:09 - 16:39 Pescara 16:39 - 19:33 Italy
