Race To The King 100k 2025

Race to the King 100k – 2025 Recap Wow… what a race! 🥵 The longest day of the year—and it definitely felt like it. Not just in hours, but in heat too! I took on the Race to the King 100k with my good friend Matt and our running buddy Paul. Going into it, I had mixed emotions. The first half of the course, while scenic in places, was surprisingly heavy on the tarmac. It wasn’t until around the marathon mark that we finally hit proper trails—and by that point, the temperature was really starting to crank up. The second half, running along the South Downs, was absolutely beautiful. But it also brought some serious elevation—easily around 1,200m—and with the heat rising, every climb felt like a mission. One big challenge for me was the spacing of water stations. With long stretches between some of them—particularly a 20k gap late in the race, and even one aid station being dry—it became more than just a run; it was about managing hydration and heat as well. Honestly, from a race of this scale, I expected a bit more support in that area. That said, the volunteers were incredible. Every single one of them was supportive, positive, and cheering us on all day. Massive shout-out to them for keeping spirits high out there 🙌 The views were stunning—and yes, I probably said “stunning” about 100 times on the trails 😅 But that’s because they really were. I’m so proud to have completed my first 100k ultra. It’s a huge milestone and one I won’t forget any time soon. Would I do it again? Never say never. But I’ve got more adventures to chase first before I consider a rematch with the King 👑 🎉 Huge congratulations to everyone who took on any of the distances over the weekend! Did you run it too? Would you go again? And what did you think of the water stations? Let me know in the comments below 👇 Thanks so much for watching and supporting the journey. Until the next one… 🏃‍♂️❤️
