Man Buys $7,500 ABANDONED House - Then He Transformed It Completely! (By @DIY_OTAKU_take)
Man Buys $7,500 ABANDONED House - Then He Transformed It Completely! (By @DIY_OTAKU_take) ----------------------------------------------- Hello TTI family! Today’s project is the kind of renovation that makes you look around your own home and suddenly notice every cracked wall and squeaky floorboard. This incredible transformation begins with a heavily damaged Japanese house purchased for just 1 million yen — around $7,500. At first glance, the place looked completely beyond saving, with worn-out flooring, stained walls, broken fixtures, and years of neglect visible in every corner. But hidden underneath all the mess was a house full of potential. What makes this renovation so impressive is that it’s done entirely through DIY effort. No massive construction crew, no luxury budget — just patience, skill, and an incredible amount of hard work. Step by step, room by room, the abandoned structure slowly turns into a beautiful modern home. The process begins with repairing damaged ceilings, preparing old walls, and installing textured wallpaper that instantly gives the interior a cleaner and more modern atmosphere. Cushion flooring is carefully measured, trimmed, and installed throughout the house, creating a durable and comfortable surface while also improving the overall appearance of each room. Every section is installed with precision to avoid wrinkles, gaps, or trapped air bubbles. The kitchen renovation completely changes the feel of the home. New cabinets provide more storage while maintaining a minimalist look, and plumbing systems are upgraded carefully to improve functionality. Old tatami flooring is removed to expose the wooden framework underneath, allowing insulation panels and plywood to be added for better energy efficiency and structural support. The bathroom and toilet areas require some of the most difficult work in the entire project. Old tiles, damaged flooring, and rotten materials are removed before the subfloors and walls are inspected for water damage, leaks, and mold. Waterproof cement boards are installed to create a moisture-resistant foundation, while waterproof sealants and carefully applied caulking protect every seam and corner from future problems. Even the toilet installation itself is done with careful attention to alignment, sealing, and stability. Throughout the renovation, small details receive just as much attention as the larger structural work. Floating sinks are securely mounted, plumbing lines are connected using modern materials, and wallpaper is applied with incredible precision to create a seamless finish. What’s especially impressive is how many original features are restored instead of replaced. Traditional cabinets, wooden panels, and old furnishings are repaired, refinished, and blended into the modern design, preserving the character of the home while reducing waste. By the end of the project, the transformation is honestly shocking. What once looked like a collapsing ruin becomes a bright, warm, and highly functional living space. Beyond the visual improvement, the renovation also improves safety, insulation, energy efficiency, and durability. More importantly, it reflects the Japanese philosophy of “Mottainai,” which values preserving and respecting materials rather than wasting them. This project proves that no house is truly hopeless. Sometimes all it takes is vision, dedication, and someone willing to see beauty where others only see decay. ---------------------------------------- DIYオタク サラリーマンタケ【リフォームチャンネル】 Instagram: / take_kushirode_fudousautousi Youtube: / @diy_otaku_take For any issue please contact us at 👇🏻 [email protected] Facebook : / ttienglish007 Instagram : / top_10_information Twitter : / tti_english ------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: TTI English is not affiliated with the businesses whose products are shown in this review.
