Oslo Airport to City Centre: The Cheaper Train Most Visitors Miss

At Oslo Airport Gardermoen, the obvious train choice is Flytoget, the airport express train. It is fast, well signed, and easy to find, but it is not the only way into the city. In this video I show the cheaper alternative from Oslo Airport to Oslo Central Station: the Vy train. I paid 134 Norwegian kroner, compared with about 250 kroner for Flytoget, and the journey into the city took 22 minutes once on board. The key is to look for the normal trains, not just the express train signs. After arrivals and nothing to declare, follow the signs carefully, use the blue and white train ticket machines, and check that your ticket is for the correct service. Tickets bought for the Vy/regional train are not valid on Flytoget. This is a quick arrival guide for anyone landing at Oslo Airport and trying to decide whether Flytoget is worth the extra money.
