Artist Talk: Jonathan Muecke
American designer Jonathan Muecke (born 1983) has, for more than a decade, investigated the relationship between form, material, and perception through a range of creative experiments. Whether working in steel, wood, textile, or composite materials, Muecke’s intent remains consistent: to produce objects that challenge our spatial expectations and habits, prompting us to experience our physical environments anew. For this conversation, Muecke joins Irene Sunwoo, John H. Bryan Chair and Curator of Architecture and Design, and Zoë Ryan, Daniel W. Dietrich, II Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania, to discuss his exhibition, Objects in Sculpture. Jonathan Muecke: Objects in Sculpture is part of the Franke/Herro Design Series, which highlights the work of important emerging talent. This lecture is made possible by the Frank J. Mooney Memorial Fund.
