Les Mille Visages du quartier de La Rose des Vents

La Rose des Vents is a vast neighborhood of high-rise housing projects built in 1973 in the northern suburbs of Paris, never renovated in thirty years. Allée de la Bourdonnais, the main street, is lined with large housing projects with no green space. Some might find it gloomy, with its broken windows, damaged shutters, and faded walls. Yet, this neighborhood has a soul. The baker helps an elderly Sri Lankan with his taxes, young people help Alima with her shopping, and Jean tells his stories to the children every Wednesday. Father Xavier, priest of the Saint Jean Chapel, shares a shisha with friends at the café. This place is a cultural melting pot with more than 80 nationalities and 15,000 inhabitants. Between raï music, mbalax, the smell of mafé and spring rolls, Rue de la Bourdonnais is an invitation to travel. This film is a chronicle of life here, exploring the cultural diversity of the neighborhood. Walking through a building, we discover the traditions of families from Sri Lanka, Mali, Turkey, and Congo.
