Broken Sword: The Shadow Of The Templars - Reforged: Part 13

This one gets us through our night at the Crune Museum, luckily truncated for the viewer. If you select anything other than the totem pole at that moment, Guido will shoot you, so there isn't much else to do here. After that, everything's on auto-pilot and after the events have played out, you become the proud recipient of a tripod. So now we have the tripod and the gem, and that's part of the manuscript covered, but none of the picture clues have come to anything yet. Nico steers you towards Lobineau for his analysis of the manuscript, but first we visit the police, to receive a sceptical reprimand from Sergeant Moue. Rosso doesn't have any new selectable dialogue, but we do learn that the unfortunate Professor Peagram met his demise upon leaving Lochmarne with his body disposed of in the sea. I don't think it's ever made clear who did it for certain, but the Assassin is a good bet, especially as he subsequently did in Fitzgerald. Anyway, that done, we do visit Lobineau and whilst he is enthusiastic about the manuscript, he doesn't think it has any greater significance. He does give you a name of 'De Vasconcellos' though and says it's Spanish. This is an interesting point, arguably a flaw in the writing, because from that information and no more (plus Lobineau's thought that the family has no significance), the villa of the modern day descendant suddenly appears as a destination you can fly to. But you'd only know if you selected the airport, so I think it probably comes as a surprise to first-time players when they come across it. You can actually visit the De Vasconcellos villa much later on if you wish, it's possible to go to Syria first, I think if you decide to go to Mountfacon and work through that. But we go to Spain here, and start the process of trying to get in. The gardener, Lopez, is your biggest obstacle at this stage, you've got to get past him into the house, and then past him again up the stairs. We're at the point of annoying Lopez about the stairs, which we'll do next time.
