Frankly, my first impressions of this blank made me particularly keen, but after my first few casts, I realized there was something special about it. Despite its medium action, which is common in most budget rods, the Shimano TX-1 has a unique elasticity that allows you to cast rigs long distances with it. I've tested many blanks for distance, and based on my initial impressions, I can estimate their approximate range, but the Shimano TX-1 surprised me a bit, although I certainly wouldn't classify it as a long-range rod.
