In the 1980s, The Palace, a top-tier disco on Vibhavadi Road in Thailand, was the birthplace of street racing, where young people came to have fun and race on the road nicknamed "Vibhavadi Circuit." The most popular and "coolest" car back then was the "Liftback," fitted with a 2T-G or 4A-GE engine from an AE86, lowered to a high sag, with wide, deep 13-inch wheels. For the ultimate cool look, they added used Japanese slick tires. Over time, nostalgia reignited, leading "P' Tui UNITY FAMILY," a racing team from that era, to search for a TE71. While the car itself isn't that rare, finding one in "good condition" is difficult. They started with a basic restoration before the car came into the hands of "P' Ae" Atta Nai Ruea, a veteran automotive media figure, who further improved it to his liking. The engine is a rear-wheel drive 3S-FE. While not extremely powerful, it's durable and reliable. Ideally, I'd recommend a newer engine. It's been fitted with a manual transmission and an AE86 differential with a 4.3 ratio, making it incredibly fun to drive. The suspension is also a full AE86 aftermarket kit, as the basic chassis is the same. This is a period-correct racing car that brings joy and makes me "feel like a teenager again"!!!
