Dog Tries SUP for the FIRST Time! (She Fell in) How to Stand Up Paddle Board With Your Dog

Everyone meet Betsy 🐶 She is a 3 year old Sprocker Spaniel and we looked after her whilst Emmas brother was away on holiday 🏖 This was her first time paddle boarding and its fair to say she loved it! She is a very adaptable dog and loves the water so thought going out on the SUP would be a fun thing to try and she took to it without too much trouble! 🙌🏼 Im sure this experience will vary for every dog so the only advice I can give is to get out there and give it a go! Plan for failure on this occasion, just in case the dog does not take to it, or be prepared to make little to no progress whilst they get used to it. Try and get the dog used to the SUP in a quiet, safe and shallow section of river and take it from there! 🐶🏄🏼‍♂️ We did buy a buoyancy aid for her but when we fitted it she didn't like it and made her move around unnaturally so in the end thought it would be more of a hinderance than help. We were on a river were she would have been capable to swim to the bank if she did fall in. (I was also happy to get in the water if needed). We also chose a section of river that has a footpath running alongside so if she didn't take to the SUP too well then someone would have just walked her.
