A Brief Description of the Story of Keturah, Abraham's Third Wife Keturah was Abraham's wife after Sarah's death. Although only mentioned a few times in the Bible, she played a significant role in the history of Abraham's descendants. The Bible records that Keturah bore Abraham six sons: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah (Genesis 25:1–2). Through her children, various tribes and nations were born, which later spread throughout Arabia and the Middle East. Among her famous descendants were the Midianites, as well as the Sheba and Dedanites, who were known along ancient trade routes. Although God's covenant line and Messianic lineage were continued through Isaac, Keturah's descendants helped fulfill God's promise that Abraham would become "the father of many nations" (Genesis 17:4). The story of Keturah reminds us that God often uses those who are less visible to accomplish important parts of His greater plan.
