KOTABUMI (February 11, 2026) – The North Lampung Police shot and killed a pair of violent muggers at the Bukit Kemuning coffee plantation and a repeat motorcycle thief in South Kotabumi on Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2026. The perpetrators robbed and stole the vehicle at knifepoint and with a firearm. North Lampung Police Chief, AKBP Deddy Kurniawan, released a report on the mugging and motorcycle theft case at the Rekonfu Hall on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Two motorcycle muggers in Bukit Kemuning and a repeat motorcycle thief were shot dead after resisting arrest. The group of muggers, identified as AG, 37, and AR, 30, were operating at the Bukit Kemuning coffee plantation on Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2026. The perpetrators cornered the victim and kicked him until he fell. They robbed the vehicle at knifepoint. A police chase successfully apprehended a gang of robbers in Baradatu, Waykanan Regency. However, the two men resisted and attempted to flee during the investigation. Police were forced to subdue the robbers with gunfire. One of the perpetrators was a repeat offender in a 2017 theft. Officers secured evidence: a Honda Beat motorcycle with the registration number BE 5627 KA, a green Honda Stylo, a vehicle registration certificate, and a wooden-handled knife. The second crime occurred in Tanjung Aman, South Kotabumi. A gang of thieves stole a motorcycle from a fitness center on Friday, February 6, 2026. Tracking by the North Lampung Police's Precision 308 Unit located the perpetrator, identified as JN, 34, from Central Lampung, in Kelapa Tujuh Village. The arrest of the motorcycle thieves was marked by an exchange of gunfire. The thief's bullet pierced the hood of the police car. Officers returned fire, hitting him in the leg. JN fell to the ground, but one of his accomplices fled toward the plantation. Evidence recovered from JN included a stolen Honda Beat motorcycle, a homemade firearm with four bullets, a dagger, a T-spanner, and vehicle break-in equipment. AKBP Deddy Kurniawan revealed that JN's gang specialized in inter-regional motorcycle theft, with 18 crime scenes in North Lampung and 11 in Central Lampung.
