My Negative Experience as UPS Warehouse Package Handler of 10 Years

I was PART-TIME and had to buy my own equipment, not full time. Do not work for UPS or ship your products with UPS. They terminate injured and sick employees and abuse employees who have experienced a major family death (provider or otherwise), are in the hospital, seriously ill, or experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault at home. I experienced all of this as an employee while working there. When I got sick, they cancelled my health insurance. Not long after we lost our house. I was confined to bed for years with illness and experienced burglary of the property pending foreclosure. We ended up losing our house to foreclosure as the lender was a corrupt company that would not accept payments. My children and I ended up on survivors benefits after my spouse died as I was at UPS primarily for the health coverage. The company is absolutely merciless/ruthless to employees. They just throw you away and discard you. Both my wife and I worked for the company for ten years. I went back a second time to work for them so she could quit and enter a better occupational role and we would remain insured only to lose my insurance in the months after her death after falling seriously ill. UPS delivers substandard care to consumer goods, even abusing those goods and destroying them regularly, with particular emphasis on perishable goods, glass, and flatscreen TVs. I was the President of the Hourly Safety Committee alongside our Part-Time Safety Supervisor at our HUB in the Red River District in Texas in the Houston Area. I was with Teamsters Local 988 and they did not do a damn thing when I got fired. They did not call me or anything. No help of any kind was offered. Right now the company is trying to cut 10,000 drivers and give them a severance package and close down a lot of hubs in 2026.
