Wandering Wagens: Westfalia Camping in North Georgia

In this adventure, our friend Brian wanted to take us to some of his favorite spots in North Georgia. We met on Friday in Chatsworth and headed straight into the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest to the Hickey Gap camping area. Past the main campground is a water crossing and then the free overflow area, where we stayed the night. The next morning, we packed up and headed to Murray Lake to meet up with the other half of our crew. We thought Murray Lake may be a great place to camp, but there were signs warning that the area was day use only. After a bit of fishing, we headed on towards Lake Conasauga near Grassy Mountain. Finding the campground too full, we explored down the road a bit further and found a spot with available dispersed camping. We unpacked here and made our home for the night. On Sunday, we awoke and made our way towards Calhoun. Before leaving the mountain, we stopped for a bit of fishing along Mill Creek. Our Sunday destination was Hidden Creek, near The Pocket. We found Hidden Creek to be outstanding! After circling the wagens, we started a fire and rested our vehicles for the night. All in all, this was a great adventure and we toured many of the beautiful areas North Georgia has to offer. Thanks Brian for taking us around, and thanks for some of the footage for this video.
