Da vivi - Il miracolo della finitezza | Elisa Sirianni | TEDxNapoli
We live pretending death doesn't exist: eternally young, healthy, and powerful, in a performative state that sees limitations solely as obstacles to be overcome. Alive. The Miracle of Finitude is a project dedicated to the theme of mortality, born from an idea by Elisa Sirianni, who curates it with Mario Biagini (Accademia dell'Incompiuto), with consultancy by Carlo Biagini, Marcella Gostinelli, and Costanza Lanzara. It is promoted by the Teatro Metastasio in Prato, directed by Massimiliano Civica. A space for public debate and storytelling, open to all, it begins with the premise that collectively and creatively confronting the idea of death—our own and that of our loved ones—and integrating it into existence allows us to live more protected from pain, and that it is a source of existential, social, and political improvement. It is hosted by a theater intended as an agora, a time and space to collectively address issues that concern us all, a place of ultimate finitude and memory, where everything is born and dies every evening. A festive metaphor for the funeral rite, a secular temple where we gather together and experience connection, perhaps the only possible antidote to the fear of death. While alive. The miracle of finitude reaffirms the value of community, starting from the most "common" theme there is. A graduate in Foreign Languages and Literatures, she is a curator and communications expert working in culture, social work, and theater, her first passion, focusing on its poetic dimension and the potential for growth and well-being it can offer the community. Over time, she has collaborated with organizations and artists including Andres Neumann and Pina Bausch's Tanztheater, ERT and the Pippo Delbono Company, the Teatro Povero di Monticchiello, the Teatro della Tosse, the Teatro della Toscana, the Andersen Festival, the Circumnavigando Festival, Piemonte dal Vivo, the Suq Festival, Cristiana Morganti, Roberto Castello, and Codice. Ideas for Culture, Fondazione Theodora Onlus, Defense for Children, and Il Biscione. Since 2011, he has been involved with Il Funaro, now Teatri di Pistoia. In 2020, he began to think about Da vivi – Il miracolo della finezza (From Alive – The Miracle of Finitude), which, after meeting Mario Biagini and the participation and support of Massimiliano Civica and the Teatro Metastasio, opened in Prato in 2023. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
