The quick and easy way to break up double consonant words for kids who are struggling to read them!

Help your kids learn to read the big words! Dividing words with double consonants should be EASY! Don’t make it complicated!!! This technique almost always works and is a great method to teach kids who are struggling to learn to read and write. I have seen kids go from struggle to success in a single session once they learned this technique. If your kids are trying to read big words but just can’t put them together after they painfully sound out each and every sound, watch this video and learn how to help them! If you are reading words with “tricks” (digraphs, etc), teach them to NEVER break up a trick! You also need to make sure that they know and recognize them. To help your kids become great readers and writers (even if they have dyslexia or other SLDs), make sure they know ALL of the “tricks” to reading and writing! It’s not just “knowing them” that propels them to success; it’s getting the reps in. Most kids who struggle need more practice, not less. They need to read words in isolation as well as in sentences. They need lots of practice spelling words and learning the mechanics of print as well.
