Explore all of SFJAZZ's digital offerings at https://www.SFJAZZ.org ABOUT THIS CONCERT In this exclusive night from Summer Sessions 2018, Philip Glass performs works for piano, both solo and in duets with a cross-section of notable guest pianists from the worlds of classical music and jazz. After nearly two decades of recordings and performances documenting his compositions for small ensemble, opera, symphony and film, Glass finally issued a solo piano recording of his own work, Solo Piano, in 1989. Since then, much of Glass’s music has become part of the contemporary solo piano repertoire. Russian pianist and composer Anton Batagov has recorded two albums dedicated to Glass’s music, including 2016’s Prophecies and last year’s Philip Glass: The Complete Etudes. Taiwanese keyboardist Jenny Lin has recorded an album devoted to Glass’s Etudes, Complete Etudes for Piano , and jazz pianist Aaron Diehl brings a uniquely personal approach to Glass’ music.
