Skerries is about 20 miles from Dublin city center. The town comprises of a town center adjacent to a north and south beach and a peninsula that is know as Red Island as it was formerly an Island many years ago. there is also a harbour located on the north side of the Peninsula. Four small islands: Shenick Island, St Patrick's Island, Colt Island and Rockabill with it's lighthouse are a short distance out to sea visible from the beach. To the west of the town there are two windmills with their old mill brick building still standing close by. The campervan stopover is located on the coast road adjacent to the south strand beach, overnight parking is allowed on various parts of the road but not everywhere so check it out before staying. there are numerous litter bins on the seafront and a bunch of recycling bins close by.
