👉 Franco de Pauli, a family man and street vendor, lost his life last Sunday in Plaza San Martín, Cañuelas. After the match between Argentina and Egypt, the plaza was filled with people celebrating euphorically. De Pauli had gone to the Honey restaurant with his family to watch the game and then went outside to celebrate. In the midst of the celebration, two rival groups started a fight in front of the restaurant. De Pauli decided to leave and put a snare drum in his truck when he was struck by a rock thrown by one of the people involved. The impact caused a fatal head wound. Neighbors tried to resuscitate him with CPR and took him to the local hospital, where he arrived without vital signs. The police arrested Iván Lebrera, a young man with a criminal record; however, the investigation into who was directly responsible for the attack is still ongoing. Witnesses reported that disputes between neighborhoods are frequent but had never reached such a level of violence. "He was a humble, hardworking person; he had nothing to do with the fight," said Verónica, a waitress at the restaurant. The municipality is requesting the public's help in identifying the attackers using private security cameras.
