Jellyfin 12 Is a Bigger Update Than It Looks. Should you upgrade?

Jellyfin 12.0 RC1 is here, and this is a big update for the self-hosted media server. In this video, I go through what’s new in Jellyfin 12, including the new version numbering, performance improvements, database and library cleanup, multiple versions for TV episodes, FFmpeg 8.1 transcoding upgrades, better HLS and Dolby Vision support, and updates to the Jellyfin web interface. Before you rush out to upgrade though, there are some important things to know. We cover backups, plugin compatibility, full library scans, API changes, OpenLibrary book metadata, audiobook chapter support, and why most people should wait before moving their main Jellyfin server to 12.0 RC1. If you use Jellyfin as a Plex alternative or run a large self-hosted media library, this release is worth a look. https://notes.jellyfin.org/v12.0_rele...   / v120_rc1_release   https://perfectmediaserver.com/jellyf... 00:00 - Start 00:44 - Why v12? 01:30 - Upgrades 03:53 - Server stuff and format handling improvements 04:21 - Web Interface 05:51 - Should you upgrade yet?
